Universal Phone works for both blind and sighted people

Universal Phone works for both blind and sighted people

I’ve seen a few ideas for Braille enabled cell phones over the years, but most of them are pretty useless for those of us who can’t read all of those little raised dots. Not to mention the lack of general style (even for the blind? YES.)

The Universal Phone from designer Seunghan Song aims to solve that problem, by replacing the standard embossed keys and screen with a tiny pin matrix that can change from Braille into something more familiar to sighted people. The phone also works with voice commands.

When did you create this work? Is this concept winner of any international awards?

  2. Oblivious Said,

This phone is designed by Seunghan Song, and he just received the IDEA 2009 award. You posted the same question on his forum , and from further reading it seems like you have a braille phone design too? we’d love to do a piece about that as well. if you don’t mind that is? :) let me know
