Although I can’t begin to specify what’s on a girl’s mind or heart, I can tell you what Manga does seem to attract a bigger female audience. Other then having Bishies for eye candy, most of this list have deep rooted emotional story-lines. The list can be mind bogglingly long, so instead, I’ve only listed the 10 I would and have recommended immediately if I was asked. I do have a disclaimer… I’ve never read anything close to the brink of tears, no way, I always enjoy my manga while wolfing down a bloody slab of raw meat, drinking mountains of beer and watching football at the same time, body paint and all… but, I’ve chosen a few that I believe that feminine side of the world might enjoy. These are mainly in the Shoujo Category, and is mainly aimed at girls from ages 10-18, but believe me when I say I know women older and some grown that’s still gah-gah for what’s going to happen next for most of these series:

10.Kimi no Iru Machi – Eba Yuzuki, a girl from Tokyo moves to a countryside to attend high school. She lives together with a guy named Kirishima Haruto whose father is an apprentice of Eba’s father. Haruto never agrees Yuzuki staying at his house and always rejects her. There comes another girl character named Kanzaki Nanami, whom Haruto might have fell in love with. So… what will happen in the story?






9.1/2 Prince – One of my personal favorites, and actively following it as we speak. It is the year 2100A.D. and humans have developed virtual reality games. Feng Lan, due to a bet with her brother, vows to game without using her “female benefits”. Thus, she becomes the first, and only, transgendered character in “Second Life”. As her infamy as a blood thirsty warrior rises, can she keep her game identity a secret from her real life acquaintances whom she has beaten to pulp?






8.Skip Beat – Kyoko Mogami lived solely for her childhood friend Shoutaro “Sho” Fuwa. She follows Sho to Tokyo so that he may realize his dream of becoming a famous singer. But when his dream is realized, Kyoko accidentally learns the truth behind his actions of bringing her with him: he was using her as a maid to clean up his apartment. Shocked and enraged, Kyoko vows revenge against him by beating him at showbiz. Along the way, however, she will discover who she really is, make new friends, and find herself at the heart of some interesting situations that will change her life, and everyone else’s life, forever.





7.XXXHolic – Watanuki Kimihiro is haunted by visions of ghosts and spirits. Seemingly by chance, he encounters a mysterious witch named Yuuko, who claims she can help. In desperation, he accepts, but realizes that he’s just been tricked into working for Yuuko in order to pay off the cost of her services. Soon he’s employed in her little shop – a job which turns out to be nothing like his previous work experience!






6.Absolute Boyfriend – Rejected way too many times by good-looking (and unattainable) guys, shy Riiko Izawa goes online and signs up for a free trial of a mysterious Nightly Lover “figure.” The very next day a cute naked guy is delivered to her door, and he wants to be her boyfriend! Has Riiko died and gone to heaven? The cute guy turns out to be sweet, smart, a great cook, and lots more. And he looks like a million bucks, which is what he’s going to cost Riiko if she doesn’t return him in time…





5. Perfect Girl Evolution-It’s a gorgeous, spacious mansion, and four handsome, fifteen-year-old friends are allowed to live in it for free! There’s only one condition-that within three years the guys must transform the owner’s agoraphobic, horror-movie-loving, pockmark-faced, frizzy-haired, fashion-illiterate recluse who tends to break into explosive-nosebleeds-whenever-she-sees-anyone-attractive wallflower niece into a lady befitting the palace in which they all live! How hard can it be?




4.Fruits Basket – The enigmatic Sohma family shares a great secret, its members are possessed by spirits of the Chinese Zodiac, and when they are hugged by members of the opposite sex, they transform into their Zodiac animal! Tohru Honda, an orphaned high school freshman, is given lodging in the Sohma household in exchange for taking care of household chores. The humble Tohru is quite grateful for the Sohma family’s generosity, and the longer she stays with them, the more they realize what a blessing she is in their lives, as well.





3. Ouran High School Host Club- One day, Haruhi, a scholarship student at exclusive Ouran High School, breaks an $80,000 vase that belongs to the “Host Club”, a mysterious campus group consisting of six super-rich (and gorgeous) guys. To pay back the damages, she is forced to work for the club, and it’s there that she discovers just how wealthy the boys are and how different they are from everybody else.




2.Nana – Nana “Hachi” Komatsu hopes that moving to Tokyo will help her make a clean start and leave her capricious love life behind her. Nana Osaki, who arrives in the city at the same time, has plans to score big in the world of rock’n'roll. Although these two young women come from different backgrounds, they quickly become best friends in a whirlwind world of sex, music, fashion, gossip and all-night parties!






1.Vampire Knight -Cross Academy is attended by two groups of students: the Day Class and the Night Class. At twilight, when the students of the Day Class return to their dorm, they cross paths with the Night Class on their way to school. Yuki Cross and Zero Kiryu are the Guardians of the school, there to protect the Day Class from the Academy’s dark secret: the Night Class is full of vampires.
