Apple’s Much-Anticipated Tablet to Come Early Next Year?

Posted by Locke Cole On July - 24 - 2009

tablet-090724-1AppleInsider has learned from strikingly accurate sources that the Apple Tablet will make its debut early next year.

The long rumored Apple Tablet is said to be a 10 inch, 3G-enabled device, similar to a large iPod touch. As the brainchild of CEO Steve Jobs, the new device has been under intense scrutiny. Every tiny detail must be to his liking or its back to the drawing board.

As such, AppleInsider has observed silently as the project was reset at least a half-dozen times over the past 24 months. Each time, development was frozen and key aspects of the device rethought, retooled and repositioned. At times, those close to the Apple co-founder had their doubts that it would ever see the light of day, just like a smaller PDA device he canned a few years after returning to the company.

However, the past six months have reportedly seen the critical pieces fall into place. Jobs, who’s been overseeing the project from his home, office and hospital beds, has finally achieved that much-sought aura of satisfaction. He’s since cemented the device in the company’s 2010 roadmap, where it’s being positioned for a first quarter launch, according to people well-respected by AppleInsider for their striking accuracy in Apple’s internal affairs.

A recent report from Scott Moritz at the TheStreet.com suggests that an initial version of the tablet will be subsidized by Verizon; however, he has been told that the Apple and Verizon partnership “won’t be as tightly integrated” as the Apple and AT&T one.

White iPhone 3GS reportedly overheats, and gets a little toasty

Posted by Locke Cole On June - 27 - 2009

For those of you that remember the discoloration issues that plagued the 1st gen macbooks, this story might be a little too familiar. Perhaps we should have seen it coming..  but for some reason it doesn’t look like anyone was expecting it:

Observe – the new iPhone 3GS, toasted.

The user claims that the above discoloration was caused by overheating during a period of using the GPS and 3G features of the phone. We’re not sure of the exact root of the problem, but what we can tell you about is the unattractive, brownish / pinkish discoloration on the above handset.  It vaguely reminds me of a marshmallow just before it reaches that perfect gooey temperature; but this is a PHONE. That’s a comparison that should never happen. Ever.

Either way, this isn’t living up to the standards of Apple’s pristine white electronics now, is it? What about the rest of you with new, white iPhones? Anything to report?
